Go Fish Blending

Today we continued to work on blending sounds together smoothly. Your child loved playing Go Fish to practice this very important skill for reading.

Writing Response Partner Read

On Friday, we started a new classroom routine...Response Reads.  Each week your child will create a piece of writing in response to our main selection book from Reading Street and share their work with a friend.  Everyone did an amazing job listening and sharing their writing.

 

 

 

 

Addition Bingo

Last week we started to play Addition Bingo to help learn how to join numbers together!  I hope your child enjoyed this new math game.

 

 

We Are Writers!

On Tuesday, we published our first piece of writing for our writing wall.  I was so impressed with all of my Clough Pike Authors! I loved how respectful everyone was while we took turns sharing our writing.

Classroom Rules and Rule Keepers!

During the first week, we discussed how to help others learn in the classroom.  We decided to make a list of classroom rules and promise to keep them throughout the year.  Lastly, we read David Goes To School! and talked about the rule breaking he was choosing to do.  The students created David from the book and changed his "rule breaking" action to a "rule following" choice.  Enjoy!

Go Math! Information

This year your child will explore Math with the new district program called Go Math! I will be sending home additional information about this program in the beginning of the year.

GO Math! is a new comprehensive K-6 mathematics program developed to support the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. 

The program emphasizes the critical areas and depth of understanding through interactive lessons, research based instructional approaches, best practices from around the world, and differentiated instructional resources to ensure success for all students.

Get A Glance At Go Math!:

1.      Go to the  GO MATH Website

2.      Click “Evaluators Click Here”.

3.      Click “Register” and then enter the access word “gocommoncore”.

4.      Accept the Privacy Policy and to the Terms of Use by checking the boxes, and then click “Next”.

5.      Choose to evaluate the site as a student and then click Login.

 

Meet Mr. and Mrs. VE

Mr. and Mrs. VE are two of the amazing volunteers in Room 109.  Mr. VE will be in the classroom on Mondays and Mrs. VE will be in the room on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They are both retired teachers would love spending time helping children learn.  I can't wait for you to meet them!

Meet Mrs. Trent

Welcome to my first post for the 2013-2014 school year.  I couldn't think of a better way to start off the year then to "meet" ME!  

Hello New Friends, 

My name is Mrs. Trent! This has been a very busy summer for me.  I moved to a new building, a new grade level, and got a new team of teachers to work with.  I am SO excited about these new adventures.  I love Clough Pike and the first grade team of teachers.   

Mr. Trent and I live in Mt. Adams but will soon move into a house in Anderson. We love to spend time with our families and watch movies.  

Besides Mr. Trent, I have two sisters, (Miss Julie and Mrs. Betsy), a mother and father (Mr. and Mrs. VE), and a niece named Maddie. 

This is my 6th year teaching in West Clermont.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE teaching my students to read, write, solve math problems, and make friends. 

I promise that this year will be filled with many laughs, lots of learning, and many lovely days with friends.
